Clematis Apple Blossom A really beautiful, spring-flowering clematis for training onto a south- or west-facing wall, Clematis armandi Apple Blossom is a large, vigorous, evergreen climber. Big, rather leathery, trifoliate leaves emerge bronze-tinted, and mature to a bright mid-green. From early spring, pink buds open into starry, four-petalled flowers, white tinged pink, with a delicious almond fragrance – lovely grown near a door or window. Like all clematis, it likes its head in the sun but a cool root-run; plant the crown 2-3”/5-8cm deeper than in the pot to encourage shooting from the base, and cover with pebbles or a low plant to keep the roots cool. No routine pruning needed. Clematis Apple Blossom holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Be aware that this plant is toxic to dogs.
