Throwdown Workshop - Weekday About the class Welcome to our ever-popular pottery throwing class! On this one day workshop, in a small class, you will be introduced to the techniques of throwing pots. You will work on your own potting wheel to shape clay, guided by one of our expert potters, and try your hand at some throwing techniques. The aim is to produce at least one pot of your own, by the end of the day, that you will be proud of, but also to give you time out to explore this ancient and meditative craft, and guide you towards finding out which elements you enjoy most.

Time on the wheel is a great way to escape everyday worries, and we hope you enjoy the process as much as we enjoy teaching it. You will make a few different little pots during the day, which you are welcome to bring home to airdry if you like (please note these pieces can be used for display only and are not watertight).   You can always recycle the clay in these pieces if you want to make something else or use our At Home Clay Kit if you would like to learn some handbuilding techniques. We will also ask you to select your favourite piece that you made in the class, and we will fire and glaze it for you, and contact you when it is ready for collection - usually within a few weeks after the class.

Or you can book onto one of our Glazing Workshops to learn the basics of glazing technique and to glaze your own pot.
