Country: Italy  Region: Tuscany  Vintage: 2016 Category: Red Wine  Color:  Red Producer: Bocelli Family Wines In 2006 Andrea Bocelli build an Amphitheatre amongst the vines of his family’s estate and called it the ‘Teatro del Silenzio’ Theatre of Silence. He so named it because the area is silent for 364 days of the year. On one evening each summer, Andrea performs for fans around the world and this wine was named after the theatre and created for the first occasion of it’s opening. Since then, ‘Tenor Red’ has been one of Andrea’s flagship wines. It is aged for 10 months in French oak. It is a blend of 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Sangiovese and 33% Merlot. Bordeaux fans are sure to love this wine as it is arguably the perfect Italian Bordeaux Blend, with equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot, with Sangiovese sharing 33% of the blend. We tried this wine at WineONline.ie HQ two weeks agoi and can tell you it is superb value for money, with delicious texture and richness. It won a Siler Medal at the Texas Wine awards and the 2015 vintage was given 90 points at the world wine championships. For more than 150 years, the Bocelli family has made Sangiovese on their small farm in Lajatico, Toscana. As part of a long line of Bocelli’s, Andrea Bocelli–one of the world’s most famous opera singers–along with his brother Alberto, mamma Edi, and sister-in-law Cinzia, remain committed to making terrific wine and keeping productions small. Blind since he was a young boy, Andrea has inspired much of the world with his music, and arguably done more to popularize opera than any other single individual in the last century.  Crucial to the credibility of the estate, these wines really stand on their own merits, with very serious structure, body, and focused fruits that will delight even the most critical Tuscan wine aficionados. Brother Alberto, who is also an architect, has designed a stunning cellar, and remodeled the family home to include a remarkable blend of antique charm with modern touches. Their wine, it could be said, is similar to the music of Andrea and the architecture of Alberto–classic and timeless, created in a modest, modern style. Tasting Notes: In the rolling countryside near Pisa stands a wondrous outdoor amphitheater known as Teatro del Silenzio (“theater of silence”). For 364 days per year, there is pristine silence, with only the sounds of nature. But one spectacular day every summer, that silence is broken with a concert by tenor Andrea Bocelli. With friends from around the world, he leads a celebration of life and the coming harvest. Tenor Red is the Bocelli family’s homage to this spirit: a Super Tuscan blend of Cabernet, Merlot, and Sangiovese, with aromas of bright cherry, cassis, sage and cocoa. Food Suggestion: A great food wine to match with rich Italian dishes. Watch the Video The Bocelli Family Made about 'Tenor Red' Here
