Country: France Region: Saint Julien  Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon/ Merlot Vintage: 2011 Colour: Red Style: Dry Producer: Chateau Leoville Barton  Description:Consistently brilliant quality in recent years and a reasonable pricing policy makes this one of our best selling wines. There is little need for us to recommend Léoville Barton as it has a dedicated following of loyal, regular customers who buy it faithfully every year en primeur. Our only problem is being able to source enough of it to satisfy demand. 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. 60% new oak. Always classically styled with good "grip" - this is what great Bordeaux is all about. Good depth of black fruit here. Firm, structured, serious and classic. This is real claret for those who like their wine dry, focussed and precise. Lots of cassis and plenty of depth. Wine Advocate-Parker :Firmly structured, dense and medium-bodied with moderate tannin, this austere and backward yet well-endowed 2011 needs 5-7 years of bottle age. Whether the fruit holds up to the tannic structure remains to be seen, but the dark ruby/purple color, purity and impressive depth as well as concentration augur well for future positive development. Forget this 2011 for 5-6 years and drink it over the following 15-20. Food Matches:Red Meat / Beef / Lamb / Blue Cheese
