Inspired by the decorative motifs on a Late Bronze Age Bulla (amulet) displayed in the National Museum of Ireland designer Eimear (Plays With Fibre) has created a stunning pattern that combines plain stocking stitch with stripes and stranded colour work motifs. The Bulla Cowl is worked in the round beginning with a provisional cast on. The pattern is knit in a tube and twisted before grafting the ends together. The pattern uses charted instructions for the colourwork motifs, and includes links to video tutorials on provisional cast on and grafting techniques. You can read more about the inspiration behind the cowl in this blog post.
