As featured by 'EVOKE' in the Stardigan feature by Rebecca Dore! (Turquoise) Design original by Edel  100 % Handknit in Donegal with decades of expertise and hand stitched with love and skill here in our Donegal studio Ireland. Easy care 100% wool, sustainable and a great life choice. These stitch designs connect family and love in many ways. The zig zag lines represent the ups and downs of marriage and relationships. Sometimes only two lines run along side each other but here I added a third!  The knitted tree design was considered to be symbolic of a long life with many sons? (I did not invent that one) I did however increase the number of branches out of the centre mother line. Aran is often referred to as cable-knit. The cabling saves a purpose beyond the aesthetic, it makes the fabric stronger and the shape hold firm. In the original Aran designs developed as workwear it made them more water resistant.  The sides are Knit in a rice stitch that was used in Donegal Aran in the 1970's. The bobbles featured extensively in the Aran knit of the 1950's and 1960's including on the mens Aran sweaters (Like the Clancy Brother Handknits), Buttons in vintage William Morris fabric (orange) and in olive velvet on the green.Sizes: One Size as size chart between M and L  21-22 ins long and 22 ins wide apple and orange tweeds.
