Saggar Fired Dragon Egg
€175.00

Gifted From Ireland
The egg has been cast from porcelain and coated with several layers of Terra Sigillata. It is polished at this stage to achieve a sheen on the surface. After bisque firing the egg is placed in a prepared sagger for firing. The saggar is a lidded ceramic container in which pots are buried with combustible and volatile materials including Mermaid’s hair seaweed, gathered from the Donegal beaches, banana skins, tea leaves and coffee grounds. During the firing the combustible material burns off transferring the imprints of the seaweed and colour to the surface of the pot. The decoration will never be repeated as each vessel is a canvas with it’s own character and story . Size : H 22cm x W 16cmUnique one off piece. Size: H 20cm x H16cm Care of Saggar Pottery : Wipe gently with a damp cloth. Due to the low firing process raku ceramics are not shock-resistant nor waterproof or frost proof so suitable for indoor decorative use only.
