So the island is a great source of good, affordable organic wines. The Da Vero wines ('davvero' meaning ‘really’ or ‘naturally’ in Italian) are the result of a long relationship (over 10 years) with a cooperative in Sicily - who the producers have been working with since their Sicilian project began. They also happen to have the island's largest plantings of organic vines! The Catarratto grapes are sourced from the north-west corner of Sicily - at Calatafimi, between Marsala and Palermo. These Guyot-trained vines grow in high altitude vineyards (around 500m) with chalky soils. The vineyards were converted to organic viticulture in 2005. Tasting Note:Da Vero Biologico White, IGT Terre Siciliane [Organic] has bright, appealing aromas of citrus and fennel. The palate is fresh and incisive with more citrus notes, hints of ripe stone fruit and crisp acidity. Pair with starters, seafood and risotto.
