*** Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines 2015*** Country: Argentina Region: Mendoza Varietal: Malbec Vintage: 2017 Colour: Red Style: Dry Producer: Luigi Bosca Description: The grapes are hand-picked in boxes from 18 to 20 kilograms, clusters are selected, then they are destemmed and after that the best grains are chosen. The must is macerated in cold for 5 to 7 days at a temperature from 10°C to 15°C. Then it is fermented with selected yeast in stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 15,000 liters, with extraction works such as delestage and pressings. Once fermentation is finished, the wine is aged in new French oak barrels in which malolactic conversion takes place and it is matured for 14 months. Once the ageing is finished, the wine is stabilized, filtered and bottled. It is stored in the winery for at least 18 month before putting them in the market. Ageing in barrels: The Luigi Bosca Malbec D.O.C is aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months. Winemakers: José Irrera / Vicente Garzia. Comments by the winemaker: Luigi Bosca is the pioneer winery in elaborating a Malbec under the Denomination of Origin Luján de Cuyo. This is the reason why it is a wine which seeks the ultimate expression of the terroir by harvesting its grape in its right level of ripeness and looking after every detail of the making. The 2013 harvest did not have bad weather conditions therefore grapes of excellent quality have been achieved. Ageing Potential: 10 Years Tasting Note: Luigi Bosca Malbec D.O.C is a violet colored wine with elegant aromas of cherries, ripe plums and quince, in addition to some spiced notes and others reminiscent of mocha. Strong presence of sweet and soft tannins, compact volume, and a mouth finish that brings memories of graphite and undergrowth. Food Matches: Red Meat / Lamb / Chicken / Venison
