Achillea Terracotta - Yarrow Grown for its flat heads of tiny flowers, which make a beautiful horizontal line of colour in a border, Achillea millefolium Terracotta is a very good form of ornamental yarrow, a medium-sized herbaceous perennial with delicate, filigree grey-green leaves. In June and July and into August, long-lasting, plate-like heads of terracotta-coloured flowers appear, slowly fading to creamy-yellow. It’s a good plant for wild-life: it’s attractive to pollinators, particularly hover-flies, which are very valuable in the garden, and the seeds will provide food for birds. The clump will bulk up to become quite large, without being in any way invasive, and will self-seed mildly. Cut back to prolong flowering. Achillea Terracotta holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
