Achillea Pomegranate - Yarrow Grown for its flat heads of unfading deep red flowers, Achillea millefolium Pomegranate is a compact cultivar of ornamental yarrow, noted for its prolonged flowering and uniform flower-heads. It’s a small, fast-growing, herbaceous perennial with a bushy habit and feathery, grey-green leaves. From May to August, long-lasting, plate-like heads of tiny, rich red flowers appear, which do not fade, as most other yarrows do. A good plant for wild-life, it’s attractive to pollinators, particularly hover-flies, and birds love the seeds. Achillea Pomegranate can be cut back after the first flush of flowers to prolong flowering, and should be cut back hard in autumn.
