Chinese Fountain Bamboo Nymphenburg A well-behaved bamboo which does not run at the root, Fargesia nitida Nymphenburg is a compact, suckering, clump-forming, evergreen bamboo with slender arching stems, giving a fountain-like, rather than upright appearance. Narrow leaves, up to 4”/10cm long, are green, flushed purple. Fargesia bamboos die once they flower, but as they do so only once every 100 years or so (all at the same time), yours should be with you for a good while! Chinese fountain bamboo Nymphenburg looks particularly lovely next to a pool, but must be planted in well-drained soil. Site: ShelteredSoil: Any moist but well-drained soilPosition: Full sun or partial shadeSeason of interest: All yearHardiness: Fully hardyHeight: 8’ (2.5m); Spread: 8’ (2.5m)
