White Bleeding Heart
Once known as Dicentra spectabilis Alba, Lamprocapnos spectabilis Alba is a clump-forming, herbaceous perennial, with attractive, divided, grey-green leaves. In April, May and June, the arching green stems are bowed down with delightful, heart-shaped, ivory-white flowers which look like little lockets. Slightly stronger-growing than the more familiar deep pink bleeding heart, it’s a beautiful early summer perennial for a partially shaded border. White bleeding heart is very well-behaved, and holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
