Moyee Coffee
Moyee Presents our latest microlot Guji  - Limited Time Only The Guji region of Sidamo, along the Mora Mora River in southern Ethiopia, produces “forest coffee”, or coffee trees that grow wild. The region also has numerous small coffee farms that pool their coffee in a co-op for milling and export. Guji coffee is heirloom. What that means to us is that it is not a modern cultivar, but a traditional coffee that is unchanged from the very earliest coffees grown in this area. That alone would make us pretty excited about trying it. About Guji  Guji, Ethiopia is back on our limited menu (and we are very happy with that). This old acquaintance takes you on a journey to colorful Dambi Uddo in Ethiopia. Filled with tropical sweetness and ample complexity; this is the perfect cup to start the summer.  Tasting Profiles:  Roast Date: June 1, 2021 Roast: Medium   Flavours: Sweet, Fruity Fruity Notes Body: Round, Fruity Aroma: Strawberries & pineapple Acidity: Medium Citrus Sweetness Cupping Score: 85.5 Altitude: 2200m Process: Natural  Farm - Dambi Uddo This coffee grows in the famous and renowned Guji region of Sidamo, freshwater flows in this mountain range from the Mora Mora River in southern Ethiopia. The Guji is also called 'wild coffee', because it grows naturally in the forest among the mango, banana, papaya, and avocado plants. Giving the coffee grown here its natural fruity flavour.  The coffee grows at a high altitude of 2200 meters! That brings extra flavors and complexity. In addition, this coffee with pulp and all left to dry naturally. The drying process enhances many of the fruit's natural sugars in the bean, making them deliciously sweet. It's like tasting ripe fruit.  Roaster - Jose Mollura  The Guji is selected and roasted by our very own head roaster José Mollura. After more than 15 years in the coffee world, José's coffee knowledge is plentiful, from crop to cup. José is only 1 of 3,500 Q-graders worldwide. A Q-grader is like a sommelier for wine or a Cicerones for beer. He makes it his mission to discover the most unique green beans and to bring out their inner beauty when roasting. José has really extraordinary know-how when it comes to coffee varieties found around the world.  About our Microlot Series  Our ambition is to provide our customers with radically good coffee, to roast 100% of our beans in the coffee belt so that more jobs, skills, and value can stay local; to ensure coffee farmers earn a living income and their communities thrive. Our Microlot series allows us to transport YOU to coffee-growing countries throughout the world while offering a truly unique tasting experience. We aim to put a face and a name to the coffee you will be drinking and celebrate the skill and dedication that the growers have for their trade. In the same way, you would say thank you to your local barista in the morning, we want to acknowledge the tireless effort of all the farmers and roasters we will feature throughout the series.  Moyee Coffee Impact Mission   Currently, 90% of the proceeds of the total coffee production disappear into the pockets of a number of large multinationals, which we call the 'Big Coffee'. This means that the coffee farmers are left with only 10% of the value. Value where nothing has been 'added' - only 2% is actual profit! We may be entrepreneurs, but this imbalance cannot be justified in any way.  By applying FairChain principles we leave 300% more money in the coffee-producing country. We also pay our farmers a 20% FairChain premium with the aim of growing towards a living income.
