Anthony Pearson: Solarizations, by Tim Griffin, Anthony Pearson and John Rasmussen
€20.00

Quay Books
Anthony Pearson is a Los Angeles-based artist, born in 1969. Originally a photographer, and educated by the iconic fine art photographer James Welling, he now experiments with the limits of photography, crafting complex tableaus using materials like foil, spray paint, and ripped paper.
“I felt like the intensity of the real world was never accurately rendered in my photographs. If the real world is so interesting, how do I create a photograph that does it justice? I need to use the photograph as a material thing.”
Highly atmospheric and at times humorous, Pearson’s photographs suggest a sense of realism while trying to condense photography down to its most minimal aspects.
This catalog was published on occasion of the exhibition: Anthony Pearson at Midway Contemporary Art, September 13th - October 25th, 2008, and includes an essay by Tim Griffin.
Published by Midway Contemporary Art in 2009.
