Middle East, 1940-1942: A Study in Air Power, by Philip Guedalla
€7.00
Quay Books
Middle East 1940-1942 is a fascinating insight into the Second World War in the air, written in 1943 whilst the war was still ongoing.
Philip Guedalla, who was attached to the RAF at the beginning of the war, provides a detailed narrative of these early years, covering operations in the Western Desert, Malta, Syria, Iraq and Eritrea.
Spanning the long series of campaigns fought from the outbreak of war to the capture of Tripoli, it was the first authoritative account of the decisive part played by the RAF in the Middle Eastern, African and Mediterranean theatres in the first half of the war.
Philip Guedalla (1889 – 1944) was an English barrister, and a popular historical and travel writer and biographer. He died in hospital in London on 16 December 1944 at age 55, having contracted an illness during his service in the RAF.
Published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1944.
