The Edge of the Sword is an account of the Korean War by British Army officer and a military historian, Anthony Farrar-Hockley (1924 – 2006). Anthony Farrar-Hockley was Adjutant of the Gloucestershire Regiment in April 1951 as Chinese troops advanced south towards a strategic river crossing-point on the invasion route to the South Korean capital of Seoul. The 1st Battalion, the Gloucestershire Regiment, stood firm against the overwhelming numbers of invading troops. In The Edge of the Sword Farrar-Hockley paints a vivid and accurate picture of the battle as seen by the officers and soldiers involved. Like the majority of those who survived, the author became a prisoner-of-war, and the book continues with a remarkable account of his experiences in and out of Chinese prison camps.   Published by Frederick Muller in 1954.
