Royal Flush is a historical novel, based on the life of Princess Henrietta, known as ‘Minette’, the youngest daughter of Charles I of England, and sister of Charles II.
Born in 1644, Minette fled England for France with her mother at the age of three. They found shelter at the court of her first cousin, the young Louis XIV of France. In 1661 she married another cousin, Philippe I, Duke of Orléans but their relationship was marked by frequent tensions.
Margaret Irwin (1889-1969) began writing books and short stories in the early 1920s. She became a noted authority on the Elizabethan and early Stuart era and was praised for the historical accuracy in her novels.
Published by Reprint Society in 1948.
Good condition. Binding intact. Very slight tear in dustjacket.
