Edward Verrall Lucas (1868 – 1938) was an English humorist, essayist, playwright, biographer, publisher, poet, novelist, short story writer and editor.
Born to a Quaker family, he began work at the age of sixteen, apprenticed to a bookseller before turned to journalism. In 1904 Lucas joined the staff of the humorous magazine Punch and remained there for the rest of his life.
He is most celebrated for his essays, and as the editor of the works of Charles Lamb.
Published by Methuen in 1928. 2nd Edition.
