KildareCounty Kildare neighbours Dublin on its south-west border, and has the second largest population in Leinster, thanks to its many commuter towns. Kildare, like Louth, often uses Brigid’s crosses in its crests and coats of arms. Brigid’s crosses are closely associated with St Brigid of Kildare, one of the patron Saints of Ireland. Brigid’s crosses often have four arms but the striking three armed version also dates back to Celtic times. This flag captures a stylised three armed Brigid’s cross, one arm for each of the major rivers that run through Kildare—the Liffey, the Barrow and the Boyne.
