The county derives its name from ‘long’ meaning ship, and ‘phort’ meaning dock. Strange for a landlocked county, but back in the early 8th to 11th century, many towns used this as their name, alas, only this one stuck. Longford’s county crest says ‘daingean agus dílis’ meaning ‘strong and loyal’. It features a castle to represent strength, and a hound courant to represent loyalty. This flag captures a golden Irish wolfhound sprinting on a strong Longford navy plain. About Dubliner Gianni Clifford is an award winning designer with a host of experience in both Product and Graphic Design. Gianni's experience ranges from working in-house on enterprise tech to founding his own small start-up. Gianni sees side projects as a fundamental method for designers to continue to grow, learn and develop their skill set.
