Ireland’s Wine Geese is derived from the flight of the Wild Geese, when 14,000 Catholic Jacobite soldiers fled Ireland for France for political and economic reasons after their defeat at the 1690 Battle of the Boyne and the Treaty of Limerick in 1691. Château Léoville Barton is a vineyard in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. Château Léoville Barton is also the name of the red wine produced by this property. Chateau La Reserve de Leoville Barton 2014 Saint Julien Hand harvested and de-stemmed. Fermented with selected yeasts in 200Hl wooden vats with temperatures held between 25-28C. 16 day maceration with regular pumping over and punching down of the cap. Racked to oak (70% new, 30% one year old barrels) for 14 months maturation with quarterly racking's. Fined with egg whites prior to bottling. Tasting Note Quite deep coloured, this shows great purity of fruit and is wonderfully approachable, the ripeness wrapping a dense steely core. And full tannins.
