About the ArtistCara Cleary is a German-Irish 3rd year contemporary art student at CCAM in Galway. She is a multi disciplinary artist focussed on capturing stories she encounters in her everyday life. She aims to make sense of the world through her work. Her piece here takes elements of 19th Century Czech painter Alphonse Mucha's work to pay tribute to her grandmother who passed away recently. In her own words, she says: “My grandmother was a key part in forming who I am today. She meant the world to me. She was there every step of the way and dealing with her death has been a lot.  “I wanted to make a piece worthy of her life. She loved Jugendstil art and I wanted to make a piece to capture her essence.  "This work is a representation of my grandmother watching over me as I wake up to a world without her in it.
