Quay Books
Richard Fitter (1913 – 2005) was a British naturalist and author. He wrote many books, including pocket guides which opened up the study of nature to amateurs.
The Ark in Our Midst is the first comprehensive survey made of animals of the British Isles and Ireland which have been introduced and become naturalised through human activity, whether accidentally or deliberately.
Fitter tries to determine why these few have succeeded where so many more have failed and he also looks at some of the men who have acted as 'Noahs' to the British Ark.
Makes reference (2 pages approx.) to the Irish hare.
Published by Collins in1959.
Good condition. Slight wear on the spine. Green boards, No dust jacket.
