Arabian Nights is the inspiration for The Pacha of Many Tales. A Pacha (Pasha) of olden days, enchanted by the stories of Schezehezerade, decides to collect fabulous tales in order to produce his own version of Arabian Nights. Told by a series of miscreants, rogues, liars, impostors, and rascals, the Pacha’s tales are thoroughly inventive and preposterous, but highly entertaining.    Captain Frederick Marryat (1792 – 1848) was a Royal Navy officer and novelist. He was an early pioneer of nautical fiction, inspiring the likes of C. S. Forester, who wrote the Hornblower stories, and Patrick O'Brian (Master and Commander).
