Penguin Parade was an ambitious project, aimed at showcasing new stories and poetry. The first issue was released in November 1937, with new books appearing every few months until the end of the Second World. It was edited by Denys Kilham Roberts (1903-1976).
Penguin Parade 2 contains 13 stories, including Harps upon the Willow by American writer Joseph Vogel, which describes the struggles of an immigrant family from Poland trying to make a success of things in America.
Another writer featured in this collection is Ida Alexa Ross Wylie (1885 – 1959) an Australian-British-American writer and suffragette sympathiser. Several of her stories were made into Hollywood films.
There are also poems by Andrew Young and A. S. J. Tessimond, and illustrations by Beryl Edwards, Gertrude Hermes and John Oldag.
