Penguin Parade was an ambitious project, aimed at showcasing new stories and poetry. The first issue was released in November 1937, with new books appearing every few months until the end of the Second World. It was edited by Denys Kilham Roberts (1903-1976).
Included in Penguin Parade 3 is Sisters, a story by Stella Gibbons (1902 – 1989), the English author still remembered for her first novel, Cold Comfort Farm (1932).
Brian Seymour Vesey-Fitzgerald (1905-1981), who wrote Blessed Above Women in this collection, was a well-known writer of books on wildlife; he was also an acknowledged authority on gypsies and President of the British Fairground Society.
