The recipes are really easy - at first I thought too simple for a 7-year-old, but in fact they're just right. Put hummus or cream cheese onto spinach leaves to make yummy bites. Add fruit / veg slices to water for a colourful drink. Make a cheesy sauce from olive oil and nutritional yeast, mix with kale and bake for yummy kale chips. Salads, sandwiches, desserts - all quite do-able with a bit of adult help. Experts tell us the best way to teach kids healthy eating habits is to involve them in the process: these recipes are all very healthy and very yummy! The book is written for a USA audience - temperatures are in Farenheit only, a few US-only ingredient brands are mentioned, and agave is the sweetner of choice (we just use sugar instead!). It includes fun facts (Did you know your brain actually shrinks when you’re dehydrated? Drink water, quick!) and very cute, compelling illustrations. It also talks a little more directly than most of our kids' books about the climate and animal welfare reasons to choose plant-based - our child asks me not to read these bits.
