George Alfred Henty (1832 - 1902) was a prolific English novelist, best known for his historical adventure stories. He began his career telling stories to his own children.
Henty wrote approximately 144 books and was known as "The Prince of Story-Tellers". His young heroes are diligent, intelligent and dedicated to their country, often in the face of great peril.
Do your Duty is the story of Harry Langley, and his adventures during the Napoleonic War. A typical Henty hero, Harry is confronted with smugglers and French spies, and even takes part in the Battle of Copenhagen.
