Why We Love It: Blue tits and other birds in the tit family nest from mid-April to mid-May. They are commonly seen in most gardens in Ireland and often in our garden here in Co.Clare, they are a colourful, noisy, active little bird. They can nest in a variety of habitats including farmlands, woodlands and gardens and regularly use nest boxes and favour a hole entrance box such as this style.  This nest box for Tits are hand made and are made from Birch Plywood. Boxes are coated in a water-based wood preservative stain recommended by the RSPB with a hole in the box preferred by this bird family. Handmade in Dublin by student Shane Pedlow, started as a 2019 TY Enterprise Project, each sturdy box is sure to bring colour and joy to your garden and perfect for wildlife and garden lovers. Hang them in your garden to attract your favourite birds to build their nests in during the Spring.  Boxes for Tits should be hung 2-4 metres up a tree or wall. Unless there is overhanging foliage to shade the box, It should face north or east to avoid strong sunlight and the wettest winds. Boxes can be put up at any time of the year but it is good to allow time for the birds to become accustomed before the nesting season in Spring. After use, remove the lid by the stainless steel screw which will not rust. Clean box thoroughly and remount it as the Tits may want to roost in the box in Winter. Colours: Woodland Grey, Sage Green or Golden Oak. Dimensions: Each box measures approx 26cm tall x 14cm wide x 18cm deep.
