Why We Love It: The robin is one of Ireland's favourite birds. With it's striking red breast the robin is instantly recognisable. In the breeding season, robins are extremely territorial and will chase off any intruding birds. A constant companion to the gardener, feeding on grubs, worms and insects disturbed by the fork or spade, they can become very tame.  This nest box for Robins are hand made and are made from Birch Plywood. Boxes are coated in a water-based wood preservative stain recommended by the RSPB with a hole in the box preferred by this bird family. Handmade in Dublin by student Shane Pedlow, started as a 2019 TY Enterprise Project, each sturdy box is sure to bring colour and joy to your garden and perfect for wildlife and garden lovers. Hang them in your garden to attract your favourite birds to build their nests in during the Spring.  Over 2 million pairs breed across the Republic of Ireland, in many different habitats. Despite their friendliness, robins become quite secretive when nesting, so the box should be concealed in foliage if possible about 1-2 metres above ground. They like to nest in an open-fronted nest box like this design.  Boxes can be put up at any time of the year but it is good to let the birds become accustomed well before nesting season in Spring. Nesting season for robins is from mid-March to mid-June.  Colours: Woodland Grey, Sage Green or Golden Oak. Dimensions: Each box measures approx 26cm tall x 14cm wide x 18cm deep.
