Apple Crawley Beauty
A useful cooking apple for colder, frost-prone areas due to its disease resistance and late flowering, the Crawley Beauty is a greenish-yellow, red flushed and striped apple that can also be eaten raw after storing it for a while. It was discovered growing in the village of Tilgate, near Crawley and introduced into cultivation around 1870 and received the RHS Award of Merit in 1912. It crops heavily and reliably and tolerates all types of soil so is easy to grow.
