Sir Sidney Lee (1859 – 1926) was an English biographer, writer, and critic. From 1891 he was the editor of the Dictionary of National Biography and he wrote over 800 articles, mainly on Elizabethan authors or statesmen.
Great Englishmen of the Sixteenth Century is based on a series of lectures given in Boston in 1903, and includes Sir Thomas More, Sir Philip Sidney, Sir Walter Raleigh, Edmund Spenser, Francis Bacon and William Shakespeare.
