Six-part ITV crime drama that chronicles the early career of WPC Jane Tennison (Stefanie Martini). In 1970s London, 22-year-old Tennison is a probationary officer just entering the force at a time when male chauvinism is still prevalent in the profession and rules are not always followed to the letter. Determined and dedicated to realise her potential in the force, Jane finds herself working on her first murder investigation when the body of a teenage prostitute is discovered on a Hackney housing estate. Under the watchful eyes of her superior DI Len Bradfield (Sam Reid), Jane begins her investigation and starts with questioning her first prime suspect, the victim's drug addict boyfriend.
