Kenneth Branagh directs and stars in this biographical drama based around the final days in the life of William Shakespeare. Having worked his way up to become a renowned playwright, tragedy strikes when William's theatre, The Globe, burns to the ground. After being on the road with his plays for nearly 20 years, William returns home to his wife Anne (Judi Dench) who now sees him as a stranger. Having never properly dealt with the death of his son 17 years ago, William must now face up to the broken family that he left behind.
