Blasket Islands
from €85.00
Giles Norman Gallery
Description
The Blasket Islands are emblematic of our county’s past: the years of Peig Sayers and her memoirs, of brave fisherman stitched for recognition, an oil-lamp fraternity of world renowned Irish writers, and finally, submission to the harsh reality of immigration and the total abandonment of their island way of life in 1956. Yet the Blasket Islands have risen again from the Atlantic sea to become a beacon of Irish folklore and culture, honouring the incredible fortitude of our island forbearers and recognising the literary prowess of its Celtic writers.
