***MEDAL WINNER @ CONCOURS DES GRANDES VINS DE FRANCE*** Country : France   Region: Bordeaux Superieur Varietal: Merlot 80% / Cabernet  20 %  Vintage: 2019  Colour: Red Style: Dry Producer: Chateau Roc De Levraut Description:Intense ruby red wine with layers of dark autumn fruits - damsons and blackcurrants with an underlay of sweet spice. Tasting Note: The Chateau Roc de Levraut receives its name from the enormous boulders that are scattered through the area of rolling hills composed of clay and limestone soils, a characteristic that was no doubt cursed by the original Ballarins who had to clear the soil with oxen, but now cherished because the terroir leads to a distinct sense of minerality in the tightly knit wines. The 2019 is in the classic structured style that shows red and black fruit, a touch of cassis, that mixture of dark berry and sage-like herbal musk so prevalent in Bordeaux reds, and a lovely plump blueberry from the Cabernet Franc. The tannins are noticeable, but don't dominate the wine, suggesting instead that there will likely be a few years of ageing capacity here. This is a remarkably tasty Bordeaux made in the classic style.  Delicious for drinking now but capable of ageing for 5 to 7 years. .Excellent Value from the amazing 2018 vintage   Food Matches: Beef / Lamb / Goat Cheese / Venison / Game
