Country: France  Region: Provence  Vintage: 2015 Category: White Wine  Color: White Producer: Domaine de Triennes  In 1989, two Burgundians, Jacques Seysses, founder of Domaine Dujac, and Aubert de Villaine, joined by their Parisian friend, Michel Macaux, went in search of new vineyards. Their attention turned to Provence where they were convinced the potential for great wines was enormous. After a long search, they discovered the Domaine du Logis de Nans in the Var, east of Aix en Provence. They were immediately attracted to its gently sloping hillside with southern exposure. They saw its cool microclimate and its clay and limestone soils as ideal for viticulture. The estate was renamed Triennes, a reference to Triennia, the festival for Bacchus, which was held every three years during Roman times. The prefix “Tri” serving as a reminder of the three original partners.  Product Allergens: Certified Organic Vineyards: Convinced by their burgundian experience that the quality of great wines comes from the vineyard, the new owners began by investing heavily in the renewal and the tending of the vines. The focus on the vineyard remains a priority to this day. Stylistically the aim is purity in the expression of the terroir. For the whites and the rosé, the foremost consideration is the finesse of fruit and freshness of the wines. The cool microclimate which Triennes naturally enjoys favors the acidity in the wines. For the reds, the desire is to produce structured wines which combine ripe fruit with complexity, elegance and finesse.  Triennes has invested heavily in its vineyards. From the very beginning an ambitious replanting program was put in place. The aim was to recreate a healthy vineyard, with vines and rootstocks adapted to the local growing conditions. They manage the vines as naturally as possible and in harmony with the environment. For instance, we grow a cover crop every second row to help us control vigor, limit erosion and help to assimilate organic material. In 2008 Triennes began its organic conversion with Ecocert which should lead to its certification in the near future. Tasting Notes: Intense perfume of apricot, honey-suckle, white flowers and honey of lavander. This wine strikes a beautiful balance between aromatic richness, crisp acidity and mineral structure.- Organic from vintage 2014 Food Suggestion: "Appetizers, asparagus, salads with citrus, fish and sea food in sauce."
