Ornamental Crabapple Gorgeous
A highly ornamental crabapple, Malus x atrosanguinea Gorgeous is a small, deciduous tree, the perfect specimen for year-round interest in the smaller garden. Masses of pink and white blossom in April–May are followed by heavy crops of large, orange-red fruits 5cm across, which make a very good jelly, or can be used to make pectin for other jams. Pick in November; any fruit left on the tree persists until into the new year before the birds eat it. Foliage shows orange and yellow tints in autumn. Self-fertile.
