Rambling Rector Rose
A delightful, midsummer-flowering rambler rose, Rosa Rambling Rector is a very large, vigorous, deciduous rambling rose, with thorny stems and a dense twiggy habit. The divided leaves have mid-green, rather pointed leaflets. In midsummer, it gives a wonderful display of large sprays of small, open, semi-double, creamy-white flowers that fade to white, with golden stamens and a strong, musky, clove scent. The flowers are attractive to bees, and are followed by small red hips in autumn. This rose is tolerant of poorer soil and shade, so is good for planting through a sturdy tree – choose one with an open habit so that you can appreciate the amazing midsummer display and pretty autumn hips. It also tolerates a north-facing aspect. Healthy and vigorous, Rambler rose Rambling Rector holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit – but who the Rector was, no one knows!
