Raku fired ceramic vessel with turquoise crackle glaze and decorative resist area.  The pot has been thrown on the wheel. The bottom part of the lid is thrown and top part is hand built.  After bisque firing to 950°c.  the piece is coated with a turquoise crackle glaze made from our own recipe and  placed in a raku kiln and fired to 925°c. It is lifted from the kiln when molten hot and placed in a reduction bin filled with paper and wood chips. A lid is put on allowing the carbon to be trapped by the clay body.   When the piece is removed from the reduction bin a spray of water is applied revealing the unique crackle pattern.
