International Yacht Primer is a conventional, fast drying, single pack primer for use above the waterline. Use for wood, steel and aluminium and zinc plated steel before application of a single pack undercoat.   Features General-purpose, one-part primer for use above the water Pigments contain aluminium flakes to create an anti-corrosive, protective barrier Quick drying and easy to sand Where to use Above waterline  Substrates : Wood, Steel , Aluminium & Zinc-Galvanised Steel. Preparation WOOD Sand smooth with 80-180 and then 280 grade paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing, dusting and wiping. If wiping with solvent then allow to dry completely before applying the first coat. Apply 1 coat of Yacht Primer thinned 10- 15% with Thinners No.1 to ensure penetration and adhesion. OILY WOODS e.g. Teak Ensure that the surface is thoroughly degreased. Thinner No.1 is recommended. Sand smooth with 80-180 and then 280 grade paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing, dusting and wiping. If wiping with solvent then allow to dry completely before applying the first coat. STEEL Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Gritblast to Sa 2½ - near white metal surface. If gritblasting is not possible, grind the metal surface with 24-36 grit abrasive discs to a uniform, clean, bright metal surface with a 50-75 microns anchor pattern. Use angle grinder on small areas. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. ALUMINIUM Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 24-120 grade (aluminium compatible) paper. Coarser grades are recommended to achieve optimum adhesion. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Apply the first coat of Yacht Primer as soon as possible (within 8 hours). ZINC/GALVANISED STEEL Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 60-120 grade paper. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Method Apply 4 coats. If maximum overcoating interval is exceeded, sand using 180 grade paper. If filling is required, use International Watertite after the first coat of Yacht Primer has been applied. Ensure all dust is removed before painting. Application Mixing Stir well before use Apply by Brush, Roller, Conventional Spray, Airless Spray (Professional spray application only) Coverage : (Theoretical) - 10.5 m²/lt by spray, 13.3 (m²/lt) by brush. (Practical) - 6.3 m²/lt by spray, 12.0 (m²/lt) by brush.
